The spitfire Xll was the first of the Griffon powered Spitfires and excelled in its roe of a low level interceptor. Although its career was short, serving from October 1942 to September 1944, the Spitfire Xll was still an important variant. Serving in small numbers with two squadrons, the Spitfire Xll proved to be a vital step on the development of the ultimate Spitfires.
